Rough and intense, Arcane Roots is particularly audacious and uncomfortable with any form of experimentation in its formula: to combine the complexity of mathcore with very progressive inclinations, achieved here in a balance that is rare and thus achieved through original tracks that are as conducive to a raw power explosion as they are to a certain form of contemplation, aerated by atmospherics and ingenious arrangements, which never exclude surges in anger that are more telluric than ever by playing with the contrasts. Substantially more introspective and collected, the aptly-names last album “Melancholia Hymns”, released in 2017, is the follow-up to their first opus, “Blood & Chemistry” (2013) and four EPs, paving the way for them to open for Muse, Biffy Clyro as well as Download UK.
